Zen Studios and Marvel have collaborated previously on successful pinball titles, adding superhero-themed tables to existing products like "Pinball FX 2" for Xbox 360, or "Marvel Pinball" for PlayStation Network. The Marvel tables are really great – and they're addictive, so addictive – so it's nice to hear that the two companies are interested in continuing their work together.
Sometime later this year, we'll see a new "Incredible Hulk" table. Well, at least we know he's going to be involved in a table -- it's still not immediately clear whether or not that table is actually an "Avengers" tie-in.
Just before Christmas, Joystiq spoke to Zen Studios' vice-president of public relations, Mel Kirk, about Hulk's appearance on the ever-growing roster of Marvel pinball tables. According to Kirk, though, Hulk may not be alone on the new pinball add-ons.
"Everything that comes from Marvel next year will be bigger, not necessarily character specific," said Kirk. "Hulk will be the main character, but it will be based on something in the Marvel storyline."
Hulk is the main character, but it's "based on something" in the Marvel storyline; the mind races. This could refer to more than a few things. Maybe Kirk is simply referring to a major "Hulk" story arc – Red Hulk, She-Hulk, etc. Of course, he could also mean that we'll see an "Avengers" pinball title to tie into the film release. The "main character" comment seems a bit off in that respect, but who knows?
Zen Studios just released the "Vengeance and Virtue" DLC for the console versions of its popular pinball games. The studio also released a mobile game, "Zen Pinball," recently. There is no confirmed date on the Hulk table as of yet.
